My name is Katie and it’s very nice to meet you. While you may have been unaware of my name previously, you will definitely be familiar with my face, the face of The Hat Studio. At THS I wear many hats, pardon the pun, to keep the day-to-day operation running smoothly. Front of house, receptionist, sales executive, managing director, the list goes on. Personally, my favourite name, bestowed to me by my fabulous clientele, is ‘The Hat Lady’, as it sums up everything I do. Followed closely by ‘The Mad Hatter’, which is used by my nearest and dearest, take from that what you will.
I was presented with the unbelievable opportunity of taking over this amazing business in early 2023, when a friendly chat over a birthday dinner sparked the business venture of a lifetime. The Hat Studio has also been known by another name, Hats@119, where Gillian (the previous ‘Hat Lady’) built up the business and provided hundreds with stunning hats and fascinators to maximize the fabulousness of their outfits.
I will forever be grateful to Gillian for guiding me through the take-over transition, bestowing all of her wisdom to me and trusting me to care for and continue to grow the business.
My passion is anything and everything weddings. Sparked primarily from planning my own! I share my time between running THS and working in the kilt industry at MacGregor and MacDuff, where I assist Grooms in choosing the perfect outfit, paying particular attention to the tiny details, which I believe are the most important. I find nothing more rewarding than watching an outfit come together, whether that be the perfectly placed kilt pin or finding the perfect fascinator to match a stunning outfit, and watching the reactions go from woah to WOW.
All in all, I am proud to be part of these moments, to help create the look that makes someone feel amazing on a day when they are celebrating spending time with their loved ones. Also, not to forget feeling fabulous during a day at the races with our besties!
